Tree Removal

Friday, May 9, 2014

I had two Norway Maples in my backyard. There were fine until a couple of years ago when they suddenly died. So I hired this guy to come take them down.

Andy shimmied up those trees like Ratatoskr and sawed off branch after branch. His small crew (in quantity, not quality) threw most everything into their giant chipper and turned everything into mulch.

I had them save several chunks of the trunk so that I could give them to Eddy for some chainsaw-art experiments. A two foot length of 24" diameter Maple trunk is extremely heavy. The largest of the pieces required the both of us and a ramp just to get it into his car. I look forward to seeing what he's able to do with these.

Finally, I had therm dump about a yard of the fresh chipped mulch onto my driveway and I invited my friends to come take it away and put it on their lawns and gardens. After it had been picked through, I found that I didn't have any leftover for my own use! I should have had them dump another yard. Next time...
